Aconcagua

Monday we drove out to the border of Argentina and Chile to the highest peak in the Northern Hemisphere called Aconcagua. We drove up through the Andes Mountains to about 11,000 feet to look at a peak that stands 23,000 feet in total height.
They say that it is actually one of the easiest mountains to climb. It takes about two weeks because of the effects of high altitude. The climbers have to stop frequently to acclimate and avoid altitude sickness.

It was very windy and cold but the view was amazing!

That is SO cool! I wish I could go hiking there! It is SO beautiful up there! I am so jelous of you! You are so lucky! yeah, thats what I said, lucky! Was it really hot? How hot do you think?
Me and my science partner Logan are making mold on bread, it is SO much fun! We have tons of green mold, a tiny bit of black, white is all around the green, big blot of yellow, and a blot of turquoise blue. I hope your eye feels better! I have had pink eye before, it is NOT FUN! Glad you had fun!

Adrea - it WAS fun. I think that we are going back this week to climb closer. This time we will be more prepared with warm clothes.

Cool guy - you know, it wasn't THAT cold. Remember it is summer. It was mostly windy.

Maddy - I think the clothes are cool too!

Emily Dean - it WAS beautiful and I know that I am lucky to be here. Your mold experiment sounds AWESOME. YOU are so lucky to get to do cool experiments and stuff. As far as it being hot. The mountain was really windy so we were actually cold but here in Mendoza it is about 90 degrees. It is hot, but I LOVE it! I like the warmth.

Which mountains are prettier? ooo . . . tough choice. Do I HAVE to decide? These ones are definitely BIGGER, but I think that Utah's is prettier. The difference? Because the Andes Mountains are so big, trees don't really grow well. Notice in the picture that there aren't any trees.
