These are the People in My Neighborhood . . .

People here get REALLY creative on ways to make money. It is not uncommon here to drive up to a stop light and a man approach your car window selling a newspaper or fruit. Most popular are window washers. When your car stops, young boys are immediately at your window ready to wash your windshield before the light turns green just to earn a few pesos.
THESE young men await cars on the corner where I live.
Lucho and Martín and their two friends juggle, sing, do acrobats and play the harmonica for the cars that are stopped at a red light. They then go and collect the coins from the car windows before the people drive off. They don't make much money but they LOVE what they do and have a great time doing it.
They did a special performance just for me the other day so that I could show you and are my good friends. Every time I pass by they wave and say hello.
Enjoy the show.

Would YOU want this job?

Dear Ms. Thomas,
That is really funny taht those guys do that. I would want them to do that to me. I would pay them. Did you give them any money? Why is that guy like holding the other guy? I think that is kinda weird. He is just like hanging there from his neck. We miss you and can't wait to see you again. I made a blog but I am not telling anyone but my friends and family. I hope that you are having fun there in Argentina. We can't wait for you to come back and help us with our play. We are so excited because today, Tuesday, is our last day of school for November. I am so excited for Thanksgiving. My grandma and Grandpa are coming over to my house for Thanksgiving dinner. What are you doing for Thanksgiving? I hope your going to have fun. By the way I have some questions. What is your Favorite color? What is your Favorite animal? What is you favorite ice cream flavor? What is your favorite holiday. Mine is Christmas. I can't wait for you to come back. Is the weather there still warm? Or is it getting cold? And I have another question, do they celebrate Thanksgiving in Argentina? Or do they just skip it? And, and and, what is your favorite season? Mine is Fall and Winter because I love to get under my blanket and snuggle up and watch movies when its to cold to play outside. See you soon!

I think it is cool what the ice cream man does. I wish they had a ice cream man rode a bike to sell ice cream. I think I would help my dad pick up garbage if I got money for it. Also I would not want the meat job because I might get sick.

Dear Miss Thomas,
Wow! That's really cool! That would be very funny if it were to happen here in Provo.

Hello my favorite sixth grade class. I just got a letter from your teacher letting me know that you are going tomorrow to read the blog and I have not written you yet. It is 1:30 a.m. I couldn´t sleep knowing that I had not answered your questions. so . . . I am sorry that they are not individualized but I still wanted to answer some of your questions:
I am so excited to see you all again and to be back in the states. I leave for the airport on Monday and will get to my house in Provo on Tuesday and then will have to talk to your teacher about when I can come visit your class - that is IF you WANT me to :)
As for my clown friends. They are there ALMOST everyday and I DO give them money. I have never joined them. I don´t know how to juggle. I have tried :( It is not one of my talents. I don´t think that the other cars get annoyed, I certainly don´t I love it. I DO get annoyed at the window washers because they are really pushy and try to wash a clean window!
As for your other questions. Whoever asked me about all of my favorite things didn´t sign their name, but can I tell you in person when I have more time to talk to you personally?
Thanksgiving is NOT celebrated here in Argentina but many have heard of it from the movies. I personally celebrated the day in Chile on the beach. It was wonderful. In honor of the day I built a turkey in the sand and ate a cheeseburger (very american!)
I will post my pictures from Chile as soon as I can - I have LOTS!
I don´t currently have plans to go anywhere yet (I am just anxious to be home for awhile) BUT the next place I want to go is Australia to scuba dive in the great barrier reef and I would also like to go to Peru and go to Machu Pichu.
BUT for now, Provo sounds exotic enough for awhile. I am ready to eat American food, sleep in my own bed, play with my dog and visit my sixth grade friends.
see you soon!

NOTE TO MRS. ARMSTRONG:
If you notice on the side of the blog I have a picture of the Cerro de la Gloria that your son mentioned in his last letter that they went to and they saw a statue. I was there just a few weeks ago. It was dedicated to San Martin (he didn´t remember) Just thought you might like to know that!
