This is the Mendoza zoo. It is just down the street from where we live in the San Martin Park. Normally I don't care too much for zoos (I hate to see animals in cages) but this zoo was different than usual and gave us more opportunities to interact with the animals like I never have before.

The Monkeys weren't even in their cages! They ran around and jumped OUTside of the cage. I am not actually sure if that was on purpose or if they escaped. Either way, we got to see them up close.

I don't think you will find a zoo in the states that would allow monkeys to get into children's strollers!

This is Madonna the Parrot that guards the front entrance and welcomes visitors to the zoo. We could pet her and I even let her nibble on my finger. She didn't speak but other parrots in the park we saw actually spoke Spanish! They said "hola"!

The cages weren't really distanced for the observers and we could get really close to the animals. The Lindahls had been to the zoo before and a zoo keeper took them around to show them which animals were friendly.

Hermana Lindahl was fearless at the zoo. She was (don't try this at home!) sticking her fingers in the cages and petting some of the animals. Yes, I pet a mountian lion.

This baboon played a game with us. He would stick his fingers outside the cage and when we would try to touch his fingers he would quickly snatch them away and snarl at us with his teeth and then looked at us like he was laughing. He repeated this over and over and seemed to be very entertained by the whole game.

When Hermana Lindahl went around with the zoo keeper he even let her feed the elephant!

mrs thomas,
thank you for sharing this blog with us. This has helped us a lot on our learning. Where can I start on the things that I have learned? Well i can start by the food, first of all the mayonise hasnt changed one bit since the last time Ive been to Argentina. Second I never knew that they put that many things in the enpanadas. Another thing that i have learned is about the zoo. I was going to go ,but I didnt, so I got to know how it works there at the zoo. Thank you once again, and I cant wait until you come and show us some things this was an awesome idea. see you later

hi!
Thankyou SO MUCH for blogging with us! I have really enjoyed this! Our school had a Chrismas party last night, and instead of attending the party, I stayed in a classroom and read "The Polar Express" to a billion little kids for 2 hours, over, and over again! I got a terrible head ache, all of the kids were yellig "Santa Clause! Santa Clause!" I said " You guys, I know you are excited about the party, but you need to be quiet so we can listen to the story!" Anyways, I think my favorite part of the blog, is the one you sent us today, I think it was today. I have learned so many interesting facts while I am (at the same time) having fun! I think one of my other favorite parts of the blog, was learning about the food they eat, and where you buy the food!
sincerly,
Emily Dean
Dear Ms. Thomas,
I am glad that you enjoyed being in Argentina. I someday will go to Argentina and do everything you did. I think that it is funny how all those monkeys were running around the zoo. If one of them came up to me I would probably scream, sad to say but I would. That is so cool that you got to see all of those animals up close. My favorite animal is the elephant. I llloooovvveee them. I don't know why but I always have loved elephants. I like Madonna the parrot. She is so cute. When I lived in Hawaii there was a man who was like being married to a parrot on the beach. The parrot was wearing a wedding gown and everything! It was weird. I laughed so hard. And the parrot said, 'I do'! I went to the zoo in Hawaii and it was so cool! It took us like three hours to go through the whole zoo. We saw tons of animals. Thank you for writing to us!

Dear Miss Thomas,
First of all,I would like to thank you for sharing your experiences with us.It was alot of fun to learn about the people in Argentia, and their jobs in the community. It was also fun to learn about how the community works and how the people play a big part in it.I was also suprized that in the Argentina zoo, they let the monkeys run free and that the guardrails are close enough to touch and pet the animals in their cages!I liked how you showed the video of the peolpe dancing in the street.I also think that it would be fun to dance with people I don't know.I am glad that you could share all this information with us.
Sincerely,
Kiriana
Hello Miss Thomas,
How are you about the parrot Madonna, we had a person to teach us today about the different birds here in Utah. He brought his parrot in. He mimiced people, so if you would to whistle he'd whistle. If you asked him to do what somebody does when they are sick, he would say ACHOO! If you say do it louder and longer he would say, AAAAAACCCCCHHHHOOOOO! Well that was really I have to blog in your newest blog so, goodbye, your friend Payton
