Institute

While I have been here in Argentina I have been attending Institute. The building is just two blocks from my house and they have classes all week long. I took a class on the Old Testament and another class on applying the gospel of Jesus Christ in daily life (school, work, at home etc.) I also participated in the choir by playing the piano. Aside from classes, we also had a lot of fun at dances, eating pizzas and our end of the year class party. I learned a lot and made a lot of new friends. My Old Testament Bible classEnd of the year pary for my gospel in life class. My teacher (in the middle with the blue shirt) was in my ward in Chile when I was a missionary. She married an Argentine and they now live in Mendoza. Small world eh?
Institute graduation. This is our choir.

After graduation there was a dance. They worked hard to decorate. What is really fun here in Argentina is that after a graduation or other event they always have a dance. What I LOVE even more is that EVERYONE goes to the dances. Children, youth, parents, grandparents. Everyone comes and everyone dances. The Argentines know how to celebrate!

Dear Miss Thomas, Thank you so much for sharing the Argentine culture with my class and I. I have learned many things from you. The thing that stands out most in my mind that I have learned is how different and similar Argentine culture is to ours. A difference is how they handle food.the way they handle food [in my opinion] very unhealthy. A similarity is that we both celebrate holidays/ parties. sincerely Emily Smith
