Although there are grocery stores, the majority of the people do their shopping the Argentine way: Markets and Kioskos. A Kiosko is a small store in the local neighborhood. To buy bread, for example, each area has a neighborhood bread store which is usually part of someone's home. The people buy their bread fresh daily. That would mean that when you wanted a sandwich for lunch you would have to run over to the neighbors to buy some bread rather than already have a loaf of bread in your home.
As you look at the picture of the bread- how does their bread differ from the bread you eat?
Where would you rather shop - a grocery store or a market?

Did it smell bad when you went into the meat store? What kind of meat was it? Did you taste it raw? (if so what did it taste like?)
Sincerlly,
Tyson Humphrey
The answer to your question for us is that the argentinians bread is always round,
From,Gavin
I would feel the same way if there was raw meat swinging in all directions and have it touch me!
Margaret
I would like both because I am used to it I think it would be cool to go to the market but it would be diforent.
senserly,
Chris
The difference between our bread and thier bread is that our bread comes in loaves and thier bread is they just have rolls in bins.
Margaret
Dear Miss Thomas,
The bread from Argentina differs from our bread because the bread there is long and thick. The bread here is thin and almost flat.If I had to chose where I bought my food I would chose to go to a grocery store because in a grocery store I wouldn't have to watch the butcher cut the meat.

Hello Miss Thomas,
What you said about the market was very interesting. That is cool how they cut the meat right in front of you! I can't believe that they put mayonise on everything.

hi!
eww! I wouldent want to shop with raw meat next to my head! Yucky! What kind of meat did you buy? How did it taste? How did the bread taste? It looks so different from the bread I eat all of the time.Thankyou for telling us so much about Argentina!
P.S, do you think the bread was really dirty, I mean with all of those people touching it?
sincerely,
Enily Dean
The bread is quit different from the bread we eat. (I think I ate it before in a restraunt.) I would definetly prefer to shop in a Grocery Store. What was your favorite item from the market? sincerly,Lucas Platero

Hi its Maddy! Was it fun cooking those meals for the missinarys? Oh and I would personally like to go to a grocery store because you can get more stuff there and I Dont want meat hanging down on me trying to hit me. Because nobody ever wants to be hit by a piece of meat!!(at least not me!!) Well cant wait for you to come back from Argentina! bye
Sincerely, Maddy Fergus
I think that it is not cool to it manas. But i think that it is cool to have meat hanging down and that the cut the meat right in front of you.

I would rather shop at a market because I think it would be more interesting.Which would you prefer?Emily Smith:]
the markets over there sound good and fresh but at the same time it sounds just a little little tiny grose. I meen meet hanging on the selling. Iam kind of vegitarian. But it is an cool idea.
You can tell that a market is way defferent from a store. But it must be great.
You are the BEST!
I woud rather go to a market because it is outside, and instade of the food being scattered everywere at a groshery store. in a market it is all right there. what would you rather eat? ice cream cake or flan.
sincerly, Tanner prince
How are you doing? What is the money like there is way different then ours? How is shopping there for food smelly or super smelly?
sincerley, Isaiah
Do they really put chicken in the bannanas because this one kid in my class said that they do and it sounds a little grose. But I herd that they put candy in the bannans and it kind of sounds GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD If i could eat a candy bannana I would. At my church they freeze there bannanas and I tride one and it also had chocolate all over it was sssssooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good I ate it at a festavle for cinco De Miyo and it was good (like I said.)
It would probibly be the same tast I mean exept the frozen part. I love bananas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your the best,
Michela!
Hey ya'll!
Great comments! You noticed a lot of the differences and gave good, valid responses for choosing the way you would shop.
Michela - I am sad that I won't get to see you when I come back but guess what - you can always keep up with my blogs and maybe start one of your own so that we can see all of YOUR adventures in your new school. And, no, I have eaten any chicken bananas.
Emily - you know, I didn't really think about how dirty that bread is from people touching it all day but I probably will remember your comment now every time that I go to eat bread (Gulp).
Andrea Cortez - That is so cool that your family had a bakery. I bet that you can share with your class even more than I could on that!
Tanner - What would I rather eat? Hmmm . . . definitely ice cream cake over flan. You know why? This is a secret about me: I don't like food that jiggles. Jell-o is the worst, but flan also jiggles.
Isaiah - good question. The money here is different. They use pesos. Three pesos is about one dollar. That means that when you go to the store and buy a box cereal the price tag will say something like $12. Sometimes I forget and think twelve dollars for a box of cereal!? That is crazy and then I remember that I need to divide by three. ALSO this is for EVERYONE! THIS is why you need math! I have to be able to figure out in the moment if the price is reasonable enough or no and sometimes the merchants will try to take advantage of you because they know that you are not used to the prices and they will try to charge you more.
